Resistance
Opposition is a legal action where you object to a court decision that was made without you being there. This happens, for example, when you did not appear at a trial (in absentia) and the judge has made a ruling anyway. With an opposition, you ask the court to hear the case again so that you can explain your position. This always happens before the same judge. Opposition is possible if you were unaware of the court case, if you were unable to attend, or if you think the decision was unjustified. Please note that there may be additional costs, because resistance via a writ is requested. The term resistance is also sometimes used to indicate that you do not agree to a certain action, such as resisting execution.
